Turkey Burgers with Caramelized Onions

Thank you to THE FOODIE & THE FIX for this amazing recipe, I adapted my burgers slightly but overall her recipe is spot on and going to go into the rotation of family approved meals!


  • 3 large onions (any kind will do, but I usually use white or red), cut in half and then sliced

  • 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar

  • 2 lbs ground turkey

  • 1/2 cup finely grated Zucchini

  • 2 TBS Worcestershire sauce

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

  • 2 tsp (3 large cloves) of garlic, minced

  • 1 Tbs dried thyme

  • 8 slices provolone cheese

  • balsamic caramelized onions (See instructions below)

  • whatever you want to put it on: whole wheat bun, english muffin, pita, greens, etc..

To make the burgers:

Mix together all ingredients, form into 8 burger patties.

Preheat grill to medium-high heat.

Once grill is HOT - add burgers, cook 7 minutes each side

Put a slice of provolone on each one a

Top with onions and serve on whatever you like - I skip the bun and ate it alone with salad

To make onions:

Place onions & vinegar in a large skillet with a lid. Cook and cover for around 20 min, stirring halfway. Keep an eye on it so they don't burn, add 1/3 cup of water and stir until no liquid left, keep adding water until onions are cooked and caramelized.
